Description

Information Architecture concerns how information and data are categorised and structured in order to make the content more accessible and more easily understood by users. The module will provide an introduction to how information can be organised and structured, e.g. using metadata, controlled vocabularies, thesauri, ontologies and classification schemes, in different organisational contexts and for the Web. The module will also describe how information architecture can assist organisations with corporate wide information planning activities, such as mapping or recording the use of information and data in the enterprise, and developing information strategies. The role of the information architect will also be discussed.
